Tonight was the 14th and final points race of the 2004 season for the O'Reilly Auto Parts/ American Compressed Steel/ Hoosier Racing Tire Winged Outlaw Warriors presented by Ditzfeld Transfer.  Doug Wilson, Brian Brown, and Pete Crall were tonight's heat race winners.

Brian Brown grabbed the lead at the beginning of the race and definitely looked like the car to beat.  Brown continued to stretch his lead until lap 5 when a lapped car and he made contact and resulted in Brian having a flat left rear tire.  Randy Martin inherited the lead with Wilson, Grimes, Trent, and Gennetten lined up behind him for the restart.  On lap 6, Rusty Potter retired from the race with a broken front axle.  On lap 11, Doug Wilson tried to get around Martin for the lead on the high side of turn 4.  The move didn't work and Randy was able to put a lapped car between him and Doug on the following lap.  On lap 14, Pete Crall flipped in turn 4.  Pete did not sustain any injuries from the accident.  Randy Martin was able to hold on to the lead for the remaining 7 laps in the Diamond Pet Foods #14.  Doug Wilson finished second just a few car lengths back.  Third place went to 2-time series champion Mike Trent.  Gennetten and Brown rounded out the top 5.  It is worth mentioning that Brown moved up 16 positions after restarting 21st with 15 laps to go.  Tonight's hard charger was Tracy Nichols, moving up 12 spots to finish 9th.  Terry Hinck's 8th place finish easily allowed him to be the 2004 W.O.W points champion.

August 21, 2004
Lake Ozark Speedway

Randy started his heat 6th and ran 4th.  The track was very heavy at this time and passing was at a premium.  Randy started the Feature on the inside of the of the 7th row.  Randy had moved his way up to 6th when a car spun out in turn 2.  Randy turned low in an attempt to avoid him, but he was unable to.  The two cars did not hit too hard, but just hard enough to end Randy's night.

Randy qualified 18th and started 7th in his heat. Paulus spun into the wall and collected Hunter and Randy.  Martin hit the turn 3 wall hard and the car is junk.  Team 14 is preparing the backup car for Friday Night's race.

August 8, 2004
Knoxville Raceway
Brodix Tournament of Champions

Randy started his heat 9th and finished 4th.  Only the top 3 in passing points transfered into the A, and somehow passing 5 cars wasn't enough.  Randy tarted the 2nd B Main on the pole and won it easily.  Randy started 20th in the A Main and was running 13th midway through the race when Jesse Gianetto lost a right rear wheel right in front of him.  Randy spun out while trying to avoid him.  Randy restarted at the tail of the field, but pulled in a few laps later after not being able to work back up through the very stout field of cars.

August 7, 2004
Lake Ozark Speedway

Randy started the feature 10th and found himself in the lead just 5 laps into the race.  Randy ran away with this one and was never challenged after taking the lead.  Randy lapped up to 10th place and beat the second place car by 2/3 of a lap.  I'm sorry I can't make this write up more exciting, but Randy simply embarrassed the field.  Randy now has 14 wins, 26 top 5s, 28 top 10s, and 21 heat race wins in 36 races this season.

There were 18 O'Reilly/ Hoosier Racing Tire/ American Compressed Steel Winged Outlaw Warriors presented by Ditzfeld Transfer Co.  Tracy Nichols, Steve Gennetten, and Randy Martin were tonight's heat race winners.

Gennetten grabbed the lead by utilizing the high line in turns 1 and 2 on the first lap.  Nichols, Martin, Boyer, and Hinck rounded out the top 5 after the first lap.  On lap 3, Martin moved passed Nichols and into second place.  On lap 5, Curtis Boyer smoked heavily and stalled on the backstretch with motor problems.  Gennetten continued to lead after the restart.  After 8 laps, Gennetten led Martin by 2.2 seconds.  Three laps later, the lead doubled to 4.4 seconds.  On lap 14, Faron Crank spun out and collected Jon Corbin, who was running fourth place, in turn 3.  Rusty Potter spun out in turn 3 shortly after.  All of this happened right in front of the leader, Steve Gennetten.  Steve clipped Crank's car and received a flat right rear tire as a result.  The crew did not get enough time to change the tire and get him back out before the race restarted.  Martin inherited the lead and never looked back.  Nichols kept up for a couple of laps, but the Putnam Chevrolet/ Pro Powder Coating/ JD Engine & Machine #19 was simply too tight.  Randy Martin won the race by 6 seconds over Tracy Nichols.  Point leader Terry Hinck finished the race third in the Rick Ball Auto Mall/ J&J Chassis/ Big Stop Conoco #21H.  Tommy Mikels and Bryan Grimes rounded out the top 5.  Randy now has 5 W.O.W. wins and 13 total for the season in the Diamond Pet Foods/ Weld Wheels/ Hoosier Tire #14.  Jon Corbin worked his way back up to 6th in the final 7 laps after restarting at the tail of the field.

Randy ran 2nd in his heat and then finished 2nd in the dash to Jesse Hockett.  Rand started the feature on the outside of the first row.  Randy drove high in 1 and 2 and beat Jesse to the backstretch.  Around lap 6, the two leaders found themselves in lapped traffic.  Jesse harassed Randy for the next 4 laps and then got by him in traffic.  A few laps later Randy slid Jesse in turn 3 to retake the lead.  With 6 laps to go, Jesse slid Randy in turn 1 to grab the lead.  Jesse started to pull away until he jumped the cushion in turn 4 and spun out on lap 21.  Randy inherited the lead and beat bill Utz by a straightaway for Randy's 12th win of the season.

Randy won his heat race tonight and started the feature 10th.  Randy found himself around 5th place with 10 laps to go.  Randy moved up to 2nd with about 5 laps to go and started to chase down Brian Brown.  With 2 laps to go Randy was glued to Brown's bumper.  On the final lap, Randy slid Brian in turn 1.  Brian drove hard into turn 3 and tried I an illadvised slide job.  As a result, Randy was forced to slam on his brakes.  Randy then turned under Brian and mashed the throttle.  The two appeared to be side by side at the finish line and the crowd looked to the scoreboard for affirmation.  The board listed Randy in first place, just .07 seconds ahead of Brian Brown.

Randy ran away with his heat race and won by half of a lap.  Randy started the featur 6th because of the invert.  He moved up to 3rd after one lap and up to 2nd a couple of laps later.  Randy pursued Jesse Hockett for the remainder of the race.  Randy's car was set up to run low but it appeared that the cushion was the place to be.  Martin made a couple of moves on late race restarts, but was never able to overtake the Rocket.

Stan Boch stalled on the backstretch on the following lap to bring out another caution.  Gennetten continued to lead and Boyer moved by Trent for the fourth spot on the restart.  Jon Corbin slipped by Trent on lap 13 to climb into the top 5.  Two laps later Corbin passed Boyer for the fourth position.  On lap 16, Jon Corbin moved the Weld Wheels/ Howard Cam Correct/ Auto Zone/ Frazier Trucking #33 into third place by Randy Martin.  At this point, Gennetten was enjoying a lead of 3.5 seconds.  On lap 17, Tommy Mikels spun in turn 4 to bring out the final caution.  Gennetten had no problems on the restart and would win by 3.4 seconds over the Rick Ball Auto Mall/ J&J Chassis/ Big Stop Conoco/ Sonic #21H of Terry Hinck.  Gennetten is sponsored by Ozarks Barge & Dock Service, Inc, Cardinal Cleaning, Jesse & Beverly Steelman, and Fastenal Company.  Martin and Trent rounded out the top 5.  This was Gennetten's first win at Sedalia since 1999 and first W.O.W. win since 2000.  Steve won the first two W.O.W. features in the series existence back in 2000 at Capital Speedway in Holts Summit, MO.  There have been 83 races run in between his victories.  Tracy Nichols, who was 2nd in points entering tonight, missed tonight's race due to feeling under the weather.  Nichols was the only driver to have raced in every A Feature in the W.O.W.'s history before tonight.

The first feature ran tonight was the make-up from last Sunday.  Randy and Jesse went back in forth all race long for the 2nd position.  Leader, Lanny Carpenter, spent the majority of the race just feet ahead of the battle for 2nd.  On lap 18, Lanny's motor died and he spun out.  Jesse and Randy battled down the stretch with Jesse prevailing by a few car lengths.

In tonight's program, Randy easily won his heat.  Randy started on the pole, but Jesse got the jump on him by utilizing the high side of turns 1 and 2.  Randy spent most of the race on the bottom with the Rocket running the cushion.  Randy pulled even with the #75 several times, but was never able to make the pass.  Randy bent the steering rod on the #14 late in the race.  Randy faded back from Jesse but was able to hold on to 2nd place.

In the last 11 races, Randy has 5 wins, 4 second-place finishes, a third-place finish, and a sixth-place finish.

There were 20 cars on hand tonight for the tenth O'Reilly Auto Parts/ Hoosier Racing Tire American Compressed Steel Winged Outlaw Warriors presented by Ditzfeld Transfer.  Bryan Grimes, Brian Brown, and Randy Martin were tonight's heat race winners.

Brian Brown took the lead at the drop of the green flag.  Grimes and Martin settled him behind him along with Gennetten and Corbin battling for 4th.  Steve Gennetten was able to claim 4th on the second lap after racing the majority of the first lap side by side with Corbin.  On lap 5, Brian Brown's left rear tire went flat.  Sedalia doesn't allow extra caution laps to change tires and thus Brown was unable to get back onto the track in time.  Randy Martin inherited the lead as a result and looked to make the most out of it.  He immediately began to put room between he and Grimes after the restart.  On lap 8, Tracy Nichols cracked into the top 5 by passing Tommy Mikels going down the backstretch.  By lap 13, Randy Martin was enjoying an entire straightaway lead on Grimes.  Randy had little trouble with lapped traffic and continued to pull away all race long.  In the final 2 laps, the battle for second place heated up as Grimes, Gennetten, and Corbin got bottled up in traffic.  On the last lap Grimes went into turn 3 in 2nd place.  Bryan went low and that turned out to be the wrong line as both Gennetten and Corbin were able to overtake him on the outside.  Back up front was Randy martin taking the checkers nearly half of a lap ahead of Gennetten.  Martin is sponsored by Diamond Pet Foods, Maxim Chassis, Weld Wheels, and Hoosier Tires.  Gennetten is sponsored by Ozarks Barge & Dock Service, Inc., Jesse & Beverly Steelman, and Fastenal Company.  Third place went to the Weld Wheels/ Howard Cam Correct/ Auto Zone/ Frazier Trucking #33 of Jon Corbin.  Bryan Grimes and Tracy Nichols rounded out the top 5.  Tracy Nichols was the hard charger tonight, moving up 6 positions.

Randy Martin took the lead from the outside of the front row in turn 1 on the first lap.  Gennetten fell into second place followed by Boyer, Nichols and Hinck.  By the conclusion of 4 laps, Randy had a 15 car length lead over Gennetten.  Three laps later, Gennetten closed the gap to just 6 car lengths.  After clearing some lapped traffic, Randy once again was able to stretch his lead back out to 12 car lengths midway through the race.  On lap 14, Curtis Boyer was able to get by Gennetten in turns 1 and 2 for second place.  One lap later, Gennetten lost another position to Nichols.  On lap 17, Tracy Nichols got loose in turn 4 and was passed by Gennetten, Hinck, and Corbin.  On lap 19, Jon Corbin spun out on the front stretch due to a flat left front tire.  This brought out the yellow flag and set up a two lap dash to the checkers and evaporated Randy Martin's full straightaway lead over Boyer.  Two lapped cars lined up between Martin and Boyer on the restart.  This allowed Martin to drive to the finish without being challenged.  Martin defeated Boyer by 12 car lengths in the Diamond Pet Foods/ Maxim Chassis/ Hoosier Tire/ Weld Wheels/ VK Graphics #14.  Runner-up Curtis Boyer is sponsored by Leismann Auto and American Family Insurance.  Terry Hinck finished third in the Rick Ball Auto Mall/ J&J Chassis/ Big Stop Conoco/ Sonic #21H.  Gennetten and Nichols round out the top 5.  Tommy Mikels leads Nichols and Hinck by 20 points each at the top of the standings.

Randy's night started out with much promise.  Randy ran away with his heat race and the hot rod looked fast.  As Randy took the checkers in the heat, the engine went sour (a broken valve).  Team 14 was done for the evening.

Tonight's program started off with the remainder of the A Feature that was started on the 5th of June (18 laps to go).  On the second night of the evening, 9th of the race, Randy moves by Corbin and into the lead.  Randy would lead the remainder of the feature and claim the win.

In the new program Randy would win his heat race.  Martin moved up from the 3rd row and into the second spot in the early going.  After a caution on lap 12, Randy began to fade back.  Randy's tires sealed over under the caution and he would lose 3 positions in the closing laps and finish the race 5th.

Friday Night's A Main led off this evening's festivities.  Randy started 24th and moved all the way up to the 10th position by the end of the race.  This would mean that Randy will line up 6th for the B Main of the 360 Knoxville Nationals.  Shortly after the D Main, the rain came and ended the night.  The balance of the features will be ran August 6.

Randy did not quite get the start he wanted to the 360 Knoxville Nationals tonight.  Martin ran 5th in his heat race and battled his way up to the 4th in the B Main to grab a transfer spot into the A.  Shortly after they pushed the cars off onto the track the rain started coming and ended the evening.

Randy took his 8th heat race win on the season with relative ease.  Randy started on the outside of row 3.  Randy moved up into the runner up position in about 5 laps and started his pursuit of Damon Kronk.  Randy made several attempts to get by Kronk in the second half of the race, but the door was shut each and every time.  Randy finished 2nd place, just a couple of car lengths behind of Kronk

Randy dominated his heat race and started on the front row.  Randy led the first 5 laps of the feature.  After a caution, Jon Corbin passed Martin on the outside of turn 2 on lap 6.  On lap 8 another caution came out with Randy running in the 2nd spot.  The rain started to come down pretty good during the caution and the race was postponed.

The O'Reilly Auto Parts/ Hoosier Racing Tire/ American Compressed Steel Winged Outlaw Warriors embarked upon their seventh race of the season at State Fair Speedway on Friday evening.  Due to the high attrition in the past couple of weeks, only 12 cars were on hand.

Tracy Nichols, who started on the pole, beat Tim Doogs into turn 1 for the lead.  Tim Doogs and Randy Martin spent most of the first two laps fighting for the runner up position.  On lap 2, Randy Martin slipped in front of Doogs and set his sight on the #19 of Tracy Nichols.  Tracy, however, was too fast in the early going for Randy.  By lap 7, Tracy stretched his lead out to 12 car lengths.  On lap 11, Jon Corbin broke his motor and leaked oil onto the track.  As a result, a caution was brought out.  The yellow flag was just what the Randy Martin needed to allow him to catch up to Nichols.  On the restart, Nichols took off like he was shot out of a cannon.  Three laps after the restart, Nichols had pulled away by 13 car lengths over the Diamond Pet Foods/ Hoosier Racing Tire/ Weld Wheels/ Maxim of Randy Martin.  Tracy continued to pull away in the closing laps.  When Tracy took the checkered flag, second place Randy Martin was back in turn 3.  Tracy is sponsored by Putnam Chevrolet-Pontiac, Pro Powder Coating, Buckingham Smokehouse BBQ, CarQuest, Yeagers Cycles, and JD Engine & Machine.  Tracy would also like to thank John at USA Performance Engines for the motor that powered him to victory this evening.  Tim Doogs had to settle for 3rd place in the Yeager's Cycles/ Dake Law Office/ Keele's Accounting/ Luyet's Cleaners #21.  Curtis Boyer and Terry Hinck rounded out the top 5.  Terry Hinck's 5th place finish enabled him to stretch out his points lead.

There were 21 sprint cars on hand for the sixth American Compressed Steel/ Hoosier Racing Tires/ O'Reilly Auto Parts W.O.W. race of the season.  Terry Hinck, Jon Corbin, and Tracy Nichols won this evening's heat races.

There was a big pile up on the backstretch on the first lap of the race.  Pete Crall, Frank Brown, Larry Smith, Eric Schrock, Matt Cook, and Keith Fridlington were all involved.  Only Frank Brown was able to continue.  Terry Hinck grabbed the lead on the restart and was followed by Jon Corbin.  Coming out of turn 4, third place Tracy Nichols began to smoke.  He pulled into the pits on the backstretch ending his bid for his first win of the season.  Later investigation revealed that the Putnam Chevrolet-Pontiac #19 sustained cracked a piston.  On the restart, Hinck continued to lead in the Rick Ball Auto Mall/ J&J Chassis/ Big Stop Conoco #21H.  Bryan Grimes drove around Tim Doogs to move into 4th.  On lap 4, Rex Combs spun out in turn 2 to bring out the third caution.  The current top 5 was Hinck, Corbin, Martin, Grimes, and Doogs.  Hinck began to stretch out his lead after the restart.  After lap 6, Hinck led Corbin by 8 car lengths.  The leaders began to incur lapped traffic 2 laps later.  By lap 10, Corbin had closed in on Hinck.  Hinck got loose coming out of turn 2 on the following lap and Corbin pulled beside him.  The 2 cars made contact and Corbin drove into turn 3 as the leader.  Corbin immediately started to pull away from Hinck.  Jon had little trouble with lapped traffic until he caught up to Faron Crank with 3 laps to go.  It took Corbin 2 laps to get by Crank.  Luckily for Jon, Hinck did not close in on him in traffic.  Corbin went on to take his first ever 360 sprint car race by 15 car lengths over din the.  Jon is sponsored by Weld Wheels, Howard Cam Correct, Auto Zone and Frazier Trucking.  In addition, he would like to thank George and Danny Lasoski for all of the help they have given to them.  Third place went to the Diamond Pet Foods/ Hoosier Racing Tires/ Weld Wheels/ Maxim Chassis #14.  Bryan Grimes and Tim Doogs rounded out the top 5.  Tommy Mikels was tonight's hard charger, moving up ten positions to finish 6th.

The American Compressed Steel/ Hoosier Racing Tires/ O'Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors made their inaugural visit to 24 Raceway Park in Moberly, MO on Saturday Night.  There were 18 cars on hand tonight.  Hawks, Martin, and Hinck won their respective heat races.

Bobby Hawks took the early lead with Randy Martin settling in behind him.  On lap 2, Bobby Hawks spun out in turn 4 and Steve Gennetten spun out in turn 2 at the same time.  It was surely surprising to see two drivers of this caliber spin out.  Gennetten's front end was clipped by another car during the spin, ending both of their nights.  When action resumed, Martin took advantage of his newly inherited lead with Hinck and Corbin hot on his tail.  Shortly after the restart, Boyer was able to move around Bryan Grimes to slip into the top 5.  After 5 laps, Martin possessed a lead of 12 car lengths over Hinck.  On lap 7, Grimes was able to get back around Boyer to reclaim the fifth position.  Back up front, Martin stretched his lead out to 17 car lengths by the conclusion of 9 laps.  Tracy Nichols was able to take advantage of lapped traffic and move by Jon Corbin on the high side of turns 1 and 2 on the 10th circuit.  This put the Putnam Chevrolet/ Pro Powder Coating/ Yeagers Cycle/ Buckingham BBQ #19 into the 3rd position.  After 11 laps, Martin's lead was an entire straightaway over Hinck.  On lap 19, Boyer got back by Grimes in the midst of heavy lap traffic.  Randy Martin would go on to take the Gary Scott Memorial race by almost half of a lap.  Randy is sponsored by Diamond Pet Foods, Hoosier Racing Tires, Weld Wheels, and Maxim Chassis.  Terry Hinck was forced to settle for the runner-up spot tonight.  Hinck is sponsored by Rick Ball Auto Mall, J&J Chassis, Big Stop Conoco, and Sonic.  Tracy Nichols, Jon Corbin, and Curtis Boyer rounded out the top 5.

After getting eliminated last night by an accident not of his causing, Randy looked to get back on track tonight.  Martin started 3rd and fell back to 4th early in his heat.  One-by-one Randy picked them off and would eventually take the lead.  Randy would go on to comfortably win his heat.  Due to the invert, Martin started 2nd row outside in the feature.  Randy did not mess around in the early going of the feature.  In a matter of a couple laps, Martin found himself getting around Adams for the lead.  Kronk moved by Adams shortly after to move into 2nd.  All night long Kronk was in 2nd but never was able to harrass Randy at all.  At one point late in the race, Randy enjoyed a lead of nearly 1/2 of a lap on Damon Kronk.  A late race caution bunched the field back together.  Randy had no trouble in getting back his rhythm after the caution, and went on to win by 8 car lengths.  Kronk was 2nd and Porter finished 3rd.  Randy has now collected 3 wins in the past 8 days.

Randy won his heat race in dominating fashion.  Martin started the feature on the outside of the front row.  Jon Corbin spun out coming out of turn 2 shortly after the drop of the green.  Randy had nowhere to go and plowed into Jon.  Night over.

Randy kept his momentum going tonight by picking up his second feature win in a row.  Randy won his heat easily and led the feature flag to flag.  Randy has finished 4 out of the last 5 races in the top 5.

Randy Martin grabbed the lead in turn 1 shortly after the green flag came out.  Steve Gennetten settled in behind him for 2nd.  Schrock, Wilson, and Corbin rounded out the top 5 after one lap.  The track had too much moisture on it tonight and was just not conducive to side by side racing tonight.  By lap 6, Martin had ten car lengths on Gennetten.  Martin stretched his lead out to fifteen car lengths by lap 12.  Martin began to maneuver through heavy traffic with just a handful of laps to go.  The veteran appeared to struggle to get through the traffic in a timely fashion, which allowed Gennetten and Schrock to quickly close in.  On lap 17, Steve was just four car lengths behind the leader.  Steve, like Randy, struggled to get through the thick traffic.  Randy once again was able to stretch back out his lead and would win by a comfortable ten car lengths.  The Diamond Pet Foods/ Hoosier Racing Tire #14 visited the W.O.W. victory lane for the first time of the year.  Randy, the W.O.W.'s all-time leader, now has 20 W.O.W. Feature wins.

Double-X Speedway
Randy started on the pole of his heat race and was able to come home victorious after a minimal struggle on the first couple of laps.  Randy started the A-Main on the inside of the second row.  He did not get the best start and fell back to 4th at the beginning.  Swiftly, Randy started picking cars off one by one and bolted into the lead on lap 5.  That was all Randy needed, as he would run away with the race.  When the white flag came out, Randy had lapped all of the cars except second place Dean Adams, who was just a straightaway away from Randy.  A caution came out shortly after Martin took the white flag.  Randy had no problems on the resart and would win the race by a comfortable 6 car lengths over Adams.  Finally, Randy got his first win of the season.

A car spun sideways in front of Randy at the start of race.  Randy had nowhere to go and was collected.  End of night.  That is about all I need to say.

Randy started 5th in his heat and would finish third.  In the feature, Randy started on the inside of the 5th row.  Martin struggled with the car all night long and was never able to get things going.  Randy would end up finishing the A-Main in the 5th position.  After the race, Randy told me that he has never seen Sedalia that heavy in the feature in his fifteen years of racing there.

Randy moved up from 22nd to 12th in the rain-shortened 10-lap feature at Knoxville in the 410 division.  Randy felt like he definitely had a top 10 car if the race would have went the distance.  Perhaps this is all the veteran needs to dig himself out of this early season slump.  Randy placed 5th in his heat race.  Team 14 will make stops at Sedalia (Friday) and Lake Ozark Speedway (Saturday) this weekend.  Randy is still searching for his first win of the season.

Randy's bad start to the season did not end tonight.  Midway through his heat race, Randy blew his motor.  It was too damaged to repair at the track and Team 14 had another short night.  Randy will be back in Knoxville tomorrow night.

May 1, 2004

Randy did not get off to a very good start to his 410 season on Saturday Night.  He struggled in his qualifying and was forced to play catch-up.  Due to the record number of 410s plus Randy's poor qualifying , Randy's first race of the night was the D-Main.  Randy started 10th and was able to move up to 6th in the race.  One more position and Randy would  have transferred to the C-Main.  Randy will be in Sedalia this Friday Night where he will be looking for his first win of the season.  Team 14 discovered that they had throttle problems in the shop after they returned from Knoxville.

April 16, 2004

Randy started 4th in his heat race and drove the victory with ease.  This enabled Martin to start on the pole of the A-Feature.  Going in to turn 1 at the start of the race, Randy blew a left rear tire, backed into the guardrail, and toppled over on his side.  Team 14 was able to make repairs to the car and sent him back out to restart in 17th.  After 3 laps, Randy had moved up into the 12th spot and was trying to get around Boyer when he clipped the inside wall in turn 1 on lap 4.  The damaged sustained from this accident was enough to end Randy's night.  Randy will be back in action next Friday night in Sedalia.
