The O'Reilly Auto Parts/ American Compressed Steel/ Hoosier Tires Winged Outlaw Warriors ran their eighteenth race of the year this evening at The New Capital Speedway in Holts Summit, MO.  There were 22 sprint cars on hand.  Bobby Hawks, Bryan Grimes, and Randy Martin won their respective heat races this evening.

Randy Martin got the jump from the inside of the second row and was able to get by both Grimes and Hawks in turns 1 and 2 to claim the lead on the first lap.  Hawks, Grimes, and Boyer fell in behind Martin.  Fifth place Steve Dean had something in his front end break on lap 2 and went for a wild ride in turn 3.  Steve ran of the track and into the concrete barrier hard.  His car would be wadded up from the wreck, but he was alright.  Bryan Grimes took second place from Hawks in turns 3 and 4 after the restart.  He took a peak to the inside of Randy in turn 1 on lap 3, but could not make a pass.  Curtis Boyer moved by Hawks on lap 5 to claim third.  Bryan continued to stalk Martin in the laps to come.  Finally, Grimes was able to pass Martin in turn 3 on the 9th lap while they were both in traffic.  Randy returned the favor in turn 1 to reclaim the lead.  Tracy Nichols passed Terry Hinck on lap 11 to slip into the top 5.  Bryan took over the lead once more in turn 3 on lap number 13.  The two swapped once more when Martin got back by Grimes in turn 3 on the following lap.  Two laps later, Randy was enjoying a 12 car-length lead over Bryan when Chuck Hines flipped in turn 3 to bring out the red flag.  Randy Martin got the good restart he needed and was able to hold off Bryan in the final laps to win for the second week in a row in the Diamond Pet Foods #14.  Bryan Grimes settled for second in the Bo Parks #6.  Bobby Hawks, in the Lumley Trucking #5H, got by Curtis Boyer on the final lap to finish in the third position.  The hard charger for this evening's race was Tim Doogs, who moved up eight positions from his 16th starting spot.

There were 19 sprint cars on hand at Capital Speedway tonight for the O'Reilly Auto Parts/ American Compressed Steel/ Hoosier Tires W.O.W.  Eric Schrock and Randy Martin won the heat races.

Eric Schrock, in the H&S Sales #86, grabbed the lead on lap 1.  Terry Hinck and Randy Martin settled in behind him.  Gennetten and Nichols found themselves rounding out the top 5 after 2 laps.  Eric Jobe spun in turn 2 on the sixth lap to bring out the first caution of the race.  Chris Crump spun out on the restart to bring out another caution.  Steve Gennetten was able to get by Martin on the restart to take over third position.  Randy would get that position back on the next lap.  Marce Kronk spun in turn 2 on lap 12 to bring out the yellow flag.  On the restart, Randy Martin drove hard into turn 1 and passed both Hinck and Schrock.  Schrock got better grip in turn 2 and was able to get back by Martin.  Randy did a slide job on Schrock in turn 4 on lap 13 and moved into the lead once again.  The two cars touched wheels on the front straightway and then Eric did a slide job on Randy in turn 2 in an attempt to reclaim the lead.  Randy cut underneath Schrock coming out of 2 and the two raced side by side down the back straightaway.  Randy was able to regain the lead in turns 3 and 4.  The battle for third got pretty exciting on lap 16 when Gennetten, Nichols, Hinck, and Hawks were all within a few feet of one another.  Gennetten would claim the third position in turn 3 and Hinck would be fourth place.  Marce Kronk's struggles continued on lap 17 when he spun out in turn 2 once again.  On the restart, Tracy Nichols drove by Hinck and Gennetten in turns 3 and 4 to move into third place in the Putnam Chevrolet-Pontiac #19.  Meanwhile, Randy Martin continued to lead by 5 car-lengths up front.  Eric Schrock was unable to chase down the Diamond Pet Foods #14 of Randy Martin in the closing laps.  This was Randy's first W.O.W. win of the year and the 17th of his career.  Randy is first place on the all-time win list for the W.O.W.

There were 27 O'Reilly Auto Parts/ American Compressed Steel/ Hoosier Tires Winged Outlaw Warriors on hand tonight at The New Capital Speedway.  Jesse Hockett, Eric Schrock, and Mike Trent won their heat races.  Dean, Hinck, Stanley, Blank, and Combs transferred out of the B Main and into the A Main.

Hockett grabbed the lead on lap 1 with Schrock, Jamison, and Trent just behind.  Randy Martin moved his #14 Diamond Pet Foods ride into fifth position on lap 3.  The top 5 stayed this way until lap 11 when Bobby Hawks got into the back of Trent while trying to pass him.  The two cars would spin and collect Tracy Nichols as well.  Randy Martin moved into third place in turns 1 and 2 after the restart when he passed Ryan Jamison.  Schrock moved by Jamison as well.  Tyler Blank spun in turn 2 on lap 12 and Bobby Hawks ran into him as a result of having nowhere to go.  Eric Schrock spun in turn 2 on lap 15 after Steve Gennetten made contact with him.  Curtis Boyer and Rusty Potter got tangled up in turn 1 after the restart.  The incident retired both drivers for the evening.  Randy Martin tried to make a move on Hockett in turns 1 and 2 after the restart, but it was to no avail.  Hockett would go on to win by 10 car-lengths in the VKCC Motorsports #75 sponsored by Fischer Auto Body and Korte Transportation.  Steve Gennetten finished third in the Ozark Barge & Dock / Cardinal Cleaning / JS Machine #86X.  Iowa's Ryan Jamison finished fourth.  Terry Hinck moved up twelve spots to finish fifth place and was tonight's hard charger.  Eric Schrock stretched his point lead over Tracy Nichols to 46 tonight.

Tonight the O'Reilly Auto Parts/ American Compressed Steel Winged Outlaw Warriors ran as the support class to the All-Stars.  There were 24 cars on hand for this non-points event which was sponsored by Putnam Chevrolet-Pontiac of California, MO.  Heat races went to Martin, Potter, and Alley.

Rusty Potter and Randy Martin fought for the lead on the first lap.  As they came to the start/finish line after the completion of a lap they were side by side.  Rusty would gain the advantage in turn 1 on the second circuit.  At this time Billy Alley was in third with Mikels and Schrock rounding out the top 5.  The yellow flag waved on lap 3 when Tony Crank and Stan Bock tangled in turn 2.  Potter maintained the lead after the restart in the Roy Cary Livestock Trucking #3P.  Eric Schrock passed Mikels on lap 4 to move into fourth.  On lap 7, Billy Alley used the low side in turn 4 to pass the Diamond Pet Foods #14 of Randy Martin.  Alley immediately began to run down Potter.  Billy would drive right on by Rusty on lap 10.  Eric Schrock cruised by Martin on lap 11 to improve to the third position.  Eric Jobe spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution one lap later.  Billy Alley had a full straightway lead on Potter by lap 15, just four laps after the restart.  The H&S Sales #86 moved into the runner-up spot on lap 18, when Schrock was able to pass Potter in turns 3 and 4.  Billy Alley went on to take the Putnam Chevrolet-Pontiac A Main by 20 car-lengths over Schrock.  Potter, Martin, and Trent rounded out the top 5.  Billy Alley is sponsored by Premier Builders and Buss Excavating Inc.

The American Compressed Steel/ O'Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors had 22 cars on hand tonight at Capital Speedway in Holts Summit, MO.  Hawks, Schrock, and Martin grabbed the heat race wins this evening.

Point leader Eric Schrock took the lead on the first lap.  Hawks and Martin fell in behind him.  Randy Martin would get by Hawks in turns 3 and 4 on lap 2 to move into second.  Bryan Grimes, who was currently running fourth, flipped wildly in turns 1 and 2 on lap 3.  Grimes' left front wheel came loose as he was going into the first turn and caused him to flip six times.  Bryan would walk away from the incident, but his car was destroyed.  Steve Dean slipped by Curtis Boyer on the restart to move into the top 5.  Clif Morton flipped a couple of times in turn 3 on lap 8 to bring out the second red flag of the race.  On lap 10, Curtis Boyer flipped in turn 2.  His car was not damaged very badly and he would return to the track after some minor repairs.  Tony Crank flipped in turn 1 on the restart and landed softly back on his wheels.  He was able to continue as his wing only received moderate damage.  Bobby Hawks nicked the restart cone at the start/finish line on the restart.  As a result, the yellow flag came out and he was forced to go to the back.  Eric Schrock pulled away to a comfortable lead when the green was displayed once more.  By lap 16, he had an entire straightaway between him and the Trent Motorsports #4T driven by Randy Martin.  On the next lap, Randy broke something in his driveline in turn 4. He would be done for the evening.  Nichols, in the Putnam Chevrolet/ Pro Powder Coating #19, would restart second now, but there was a lapped car between himself and Schrock.  Eric Schrock got a good jump and was just not going to be beat by anyone tonight.  He won by the 20 car-lengths over Tracy Nichols.  The Castle Rock #5 of Steve Dean finished third.  This was Schrock's third W.O.W. win of the season and his seventh overall.  Eric is sponsored by H&S Sales, Smith Signs, and Hoosier Tires.  Eric Jobe moved up nine positions and was tonight's hard charger

There were 25 O'Reilly Auto Parts/ American Compressed Steel Winged Outlaw Warriors on hand tonight at Capital Speedway in Holts Summit, MO.  Heat race winners were Rusty Potter, Eric Schrock, and Bryan Grimes.  Randy Martin won the B Main.  Boyer Carpenter, Crank, and Bock were also able to transfer out of the B Main and into the A Main.

Rusty Potter took charge at the drop of the green flag.  Eric Schrock and Terry Hinck were right behind him.  Lanny Carpenter spun out in turn 3 to bring out the caution on lap 4.  Eric Schrock grabbed the lead on the restart with a fancy slide job in turn 4.  Hinck was able to get by Potter on lap 6 to move into second.  Nichols and Grimes motored by Potter on lap 7 to push him back to the fifth spot.  Another caution came on lap 11 when Randy Martin spun out after he and another car made contact.  Bobby Hawks lined up in the fifth position before the restart.  By lap 13, Hawks found himself in second place just behind Schrock.  Terry Hinck got wicked loose coming out of turn 4 on lap 14 causing him to make contact with Tracy Nichols.  As a result, Tracy got into Grimes and then spun down the front stretch.  On the restart, Bobby was able to get by Eric utilizing the middle groove in turns 1 and 2.  Bobby pulled away and went on to win his fifth W.O.W. race of the year.  Tim Doogs was able to beat Grimes by about 3 feet for the third position.  Terry Hinck rounded out the top 5.  Tony Crank was tonight's hard charger, moving up ten spots to finish ninth.  Hawks, who is sponsored by Lumley Trucking, would like to thank Ralph, Drew, Drake, and Eric for all of their help.  Eric Schrock now leads Tracy Nichols by 36 points unofficially.

Randy won his heat race again...and once more the invert for the feature starting lineup worked against him.  Jesse Hockett won the other heat race.

Kinder and Schrock started on the front row.  Randy and Hockett mad up row  2.  Eric Schrock grabbed the lead at the start and was being pursued by Kinder.  Randy moved into the third position on lap 2 when he got by Hockett.  Jesse would get back by him two laps later.  Jesse would then move into second place on lap 6.  Soon after, Jesse began to have brake problems.  On lap 14, Kinder overtook Jesse and once again set his sites on the lead.  He would do so on lap 18 while working the bottom.  Eric, who was running the top, got back by him on the next lap.  The two swapped once more on lap 20.  Hockett spun out on lap 22 to bring out the caution.  Eric got by Kinder on the restart and went on to take his 4th feature of the year at XX (6th overall).  Randy would finish in third place.  He fought a tight car all race long.  Carpenter and Kronk rounded out the top 5.

Tonight's race at Sedalia was the fifth of the year for the O'Reilly/American Compressed Steel W.O.W.  There were 30 cars at State Fair Motor Speedway tonight.  In the A Feature, Tracy Nichols grabbed the lead at the drop of the green.  Tracy started on the pole due to the four-row invert of the starting lineup.  Eric Schrock, in the H&S Sales #86, fell in behind Tracy for second.  On lap 4, the #20 American Compressed Steel car of Jimmy Sills passed Schrock to take over the second spot.  Lap 6 saw the first caution of the evening.  Clif Morton spun out on the front straightaway just in front of the leaders but they were able to avoid him.  On the restart, Tracy Nichols was able to maintain the lead.  He would continue to do so when Steve Gennetten would stall on lap 9 in turns 3&4 due to mechanical problems.  On the restart, Eric Schrock spun in turn 2.  Jesse Hockett and Tim Doogs made contact while trying to avoid Eric.  As a result, Jesse Hockett would do a couple of flips.  Jesse was uninjured.  Terry Hinck and Curtis Boyer also made contact further back in the field.  Both were able to continue after some minor repairs to Hinck's car.  On the ensuing restart, Tony Crank drove underneath Steve Dean in turn 1.  The two cars made contact and Tony Crank flipped over the guardrail.  Crank was not injured in the accident.  The final 12 laps of the race would go without another caution.  On lap 14, Wayne Johnson got by Jimmy Sills for second.  The next lap, Tracy began to incur lapped traffic.  Johnson quickly closed in and then passed Tracy in turn 3 for the lead.  Johnson pulled away by a few car lengths and won the race in the Beaver Drill & Tool #12X.  The Putnam Chevrolet #19 of Tracy Nichols finished second.  Tracy Nichols also took over the points lead from Eric Schrock tonight.  The rest of the top 5 finishers tonight were Jimmy Sills, Randy Martin, and Rusty Potter.  The W.O.W. will make up the rained out features from last night at Capital Speedway on May 31.  After that there will be heat races and another feature ran for the W.O.W.

Team 14 is stilling looking to solve the engine problems for the Mr. G's Liquor #14.  Randy was able to win his heat easily due mainly to the fact the Jesse Hockett and Lowe Cannell both departed from the race after a first lap incident.  Travis Marsch was unable to pose a threat due to motor trouble.  Randy started 3rd in the feature but got pinched going into turn one and fell back to 4th.  Randy was able to move up to 3rd by lap 3.  On lap 6, Randy passed Rex Combs and set his sight on the leader, Rob Rimel.  Randy stalked him for 11 laps, trying to no avail both high and low.  Eric Schrock got by Randy on lap 19 and then took the lead from Rimel on lap 21.  Randy finally got by Rob with 2 laps to go.  Randy finished 3 car lengths behind Schrock's H&S Sales/Benic Enterprises #86.

The Winged Outlaw Warriors had 25 sprint cars tonight and put on yet another good show.  Steve Dean grabbed the lead at the drop of the green with Bobby Hawks and Tracy Nichols filing in behind him.  My eye, however, was watching 2-time Knoxville Raceway Champion & 3-time State Fair Motor Speedway Champion, Randy Martin.  Randy had mechanical problems in his heat race, but was able to grab the final transfer spot in the B.  For several laps, things remained the same up front.  But in the rear, Martin passed 3 cars on the first lap, 2 on the second, 1 on both the third and fourth laps, and 2 more on lap 5 putting him into eleventh position.  The leaders began to incur lapped traffic on lap 7 but Dean was able to keep his lead nonetheless.  On lap 14, Jesse Hockett shredded his left rear tire and bring out the only caution of the race.  Dean was still leading with Hawks, Nichols, Trent, Schrock, and Adams behind him.  By this time, Martin had worked his way up to seventh in the Diamond Pet Foods #14.  After the restart, things got a little dicey for third place.  Schrock, Nichols, and Trent would battle for it for two laps before they would settle into just that order.  On lap 19, Steve Dean drove into turn 1 with the lead, but coasted into the pits out of turn 2.  Steve relinquished the lead to Bobby Hawks due to mechanical problems.  Hawks, who had stalked Steve the entire race, joyfully took the lead and the victory in the Lumley Trucking #5H.  Eric Schrock in the H&S Sales #86 finished second and the Putnam Chevrolet #19 of Tracy Nichols took third.  Randy Martin moved up 16 spots to finish fourth, overtaking Mike Trent on the final lap.  Hockett despite his flat tire, maneuvered his way back through to field to take seventh.

Randy ran 2nd in his heat tonight.  Randy felt that the engine wasn't up to par all night.  Randy's fears were confirmed when he was forced to retire with 7 laps to go in the A Main.  Martin was running 3rd at the time.  Randy finished in the 10th spot.  Eric Schrock won the feature.  He took the lead from Cannell on the second lap of the race and led the rest of the way without a serious challenge.  Damon Kronk finished 2nd, Rob Rimel third, Jesse Hockett fourth, with Lanny Carpenter rounding out the top 5.

(Brett Rugen)

The Winged Outlaw Warriors kicked off their fourth season Friday night at State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, MO.  The near perfect weather led to packed grandstands at the historic ½ mile.  Tonight's heat race winners were Peters, Alley, Doogs, and Ball.  Eric Jobe won the B Feature this evening.  Randy started 5th in his heat and was going to finish in the two spot when the flagman flipped on the yellow light on the white flag lap.  The problem was that there was no caution.  At this time Randy let off and Tony Stewart passed him going into turn 1.

In the feature, Jake Peters jumped out to an early lead on lap one and started pulling away immediately.  By the end of lap 2, Tony Stewart moved up to fourth position after starting in eighth.  Randy Martin worked his way up to 8th place buy the end of lap 3 from his 12th starting spot.  On lap 4, Larry Ball Jr., who was second place at the time, spun out in turn 4 and made contact with the wall.  He would not continue.  On the restart, Peters once again pulled out to a comfortable lead.  Randy Martin would pass Nichols and Chappell to move into the fifth spot.  Stewart bypassed the #22 of Alley the following lap for second place.  By lap 8, Peters had a straightaway lead on 2002 Winston Cup Champion, Tony Stewart.  The following the leaders began to encounter some lapped traffic.  The gap between Stewart and Peters shriveled to three car lengths by lap 13.  Meanwhile, Eric Jobe flipped coming out of turn four bringing out the red flag.  This would set up a seven-lap shootout.  Peters, Stewart, Chappell, Martin, and Alley made up the top five at this point.  On the restart Tony was able to get by Peters.  Stewart would go on and claim the victory, winning by a comfortable margin.  Zach Chappell and Randy Martin would also get by Peters in the closing laps to finish second and third respectively.  Jake Peters would have to settle for fourth.  Tracy Nichols passed Billy Alley on lap 16 to move into the fifth position.  The WOW will be in action again next Friday night in Jacksonville, IL.
