Randy finally got back on the winning track tonight by winning the season finale of the WoW Series at Callaway Raceways in Fulton, MO.  The win locked him into a solid third in the final points standing, not too bad considering the rocky start that he had at the beginning of the season.  Randy made a clean sweep by winning his heat and the A main.  Complete results are as follows:

HEAT 1:  1. 3 Brown (5)  2. 1C Combs (2)  3. 52 Dudley (1)  4. 19 Nichols (3)  5. 5 Dean (6)  6. 85 Mickels (7)  7. Frisbie (4)
Combs led early, about the halfway mark Brown passed him and pulled away for the win.  Once again, Todd Frisbie found bad luck tonight.  In hot laps Todd tangled with another car that spun out in front of him and left him no where to go.  The incident left the car to damaged to run up to speed.

HEAT 2:  1. 14 Randy (4)  2. 3P Potter (1)  3. 1 Trent (2)  4. 11 (6)  5. 2 Cannell (7)  6. 47 Whitesides (3)  7. 17 Schell (5)  8. 33 Zoutte (8)
This one was over as soon as it started, Randy took the lead on lap one and never looked back.

HEAT 3:  1. 21D Doogs (1)  2. 4T Trent (4)  3. 7 Kronk (3)  4. 3A Adams, Jr. (6)  5. Z1 Gibbs (5)  6. 6R Rowden (8)  7. 26 (2)  8. 15 Knapp (7)
Once again, this one was over as soon as it started, Doogs took off and was never challenged.

A MAIN:   1. 14 Randy (2)  2. 21D Doogs (3)  3. 3 Brown (1)  4. 5 Dean (13)  5. 3P Potter (5)  6. 1C Combs (4)  7. 3A Adams, Jr. (12)  8. 85 Mickels (16)  9. 47 Whitesides (17)  10. 19 Nichols (10)  11. 11 ? Z1 Gibbs (15)  22. 33 Zoutte (20)

Brian Brown led the first 11 laps of the race until he was passed by Randy on lap 12.  On lap 10 the red came out as the 52 car of Dudley and 1 car of Trent collided on the front strecth, turning the 1 car of Trent on it's side.  Brown slipped back another position, to 3rd, on lap 15 as the 21D of Tim Doogs took over the 2nd spot.  Tim ran a great race tonight, running strong all night long.  Tim is another driver that has had some tough luck this year, it was good to see him have an impressive run tonight.  Steve Dean once again wins the Team 14 Hard Charger Award for the second week in a row, moving up from his 13th starting position to finish 4th.  Brown locked up the Season Championship in the WoW Series tonight when he pushed off in the A main.

EAGLE RACEWAY; EAGLE, NE
360 OPEN SPRINTS

Not a bad weekend for Team 14 this weekend , but not an exceptionally good one either.  Randy had run well at Eagle Raceway the last couple of years, winning the Pre-lim show both of the last two years.  Fifty plus cars showed up for both nights shows, 55 on Friday and 54 on Saturday.  One of those cars who prove to be the man to beat on both nights, the 1M car of Don Droud, Jr.

On Friday night Randy started his heat race from the 3rd row outside and won.  Eagle uses passing points so the top 6 in points would run the Pole Dash.  Randy was second high in points after the completion of the heat race action.  They inverted the top four for the dash, which put Lee's Summit native Brian Brown on the pole, and Randy in the second row inside.  This was a tight race but Brown edged out Droud for the dash win, Randy came home 3rd.  Randy would once again start from the second row inside for the A main.  From the drop of the green Droud jumped out to a good lead, on about lap 5 or 6 Brown would make contract with the wall while trying to pass a lap car and flop it on it's side, ending his evening.  At this time Randy was in second place and looked like he might challenge Dround early but would eventually slip back to 3rd, where he finished.  The top 4 in the A would be locked for Saturday's main event, so we were contend with that finish.

On Saturday night, the top two in points would transfer to the Pole Dash after the completion of heat action.  They inverted the top four again in the dash, which would put Randy on the front row outside.  Randy ran good in the dash but once again, the 1M of Droud proved to be the man to beat.  Randy ran a strong second in the 6 lap dash which would put him on the front row outside for the A main.  This one was over as soon as it started, Droud led the thing from start to finish, and no one was close.  Randy ran good early, running 2nd for most of the race before eventually slipping back to 4th and then 5th on the very last lap.  Complete heat and feature results can be found here:  Eagle Raceway

All things considered, tonight could of been alot worse than it turned out.  Things started out pretty well though, after drawing the number 3 spot in the first heat Randy motored to a heat race win.  It took Randy a few laps to get around the number 33W car of Doug Wilson but after passing Wilson, Randy strecthed the lead to serveral car lengths.  Below is the recap of the tonights heats:

HEAT 1:  1. 14 Randy Martin (3)  2. 33W Doug Wilson (1)  3. 38 Todd Frisbie (2)  4. 21H Terry Hinck (4)  5. 78 John Schulz (5)  6. 3P Rusty Potter (8)  7. 86S Shrock (7)  8. 5 Steve Dean (6)

HEAT 2:  1. 19 Tracy Nichols (2)  2. 51J Ryan Jamison (4)  3. 5H Bobby Hawks (7)  4. 1C Randy Combs (1)  5. 47 Kevin Whitesides (5)  6. 17 George Schell (3)  7. 26 ? (6)

Nichols and Combs battled closely or the first couple of laps until they tangled, Nichols processed, Combs spun and went to the back.  After this, Nichols motored on to the heat race win.

HEAT 3:  1. 3 Brian Brown (1)  2. 14C Mike Trent (2)  3. 4T Mike Trent (4)  4. 85 Tommy Mikels (5)  5. 24 Lanny Carpenter (8)  6. 77 Hockett (3)  7. U2 (6)  8. 6R Rowden (7)

This one was over as soon as it started, Brown started on the pole and made quick work of the field on his way to the heat race win.

For some reason they ran a B feature tonight, with 5 of the cars transferring to the A Main.
B Feature: 1. 86S Shrock (4)  2. 3P Potter (1)  3. U2 (6)  4. 77 Hockett (3)  5. 5 Dean (7)  6. 17 Schell (2)  7. 26 (5)  8. 6R Rowden (8)

By winning the first heat race we had the pole position for the A.  Randy took the lead at the drop of the green and was moving out and then on lap 2 he started slowing.  By lap 4 the 3 car of Brown had caught and passed Randy.  Randy slid back to 3rd on lap 9 and 4th on lap 16.  Meanwhile, the 14C of Mike Trent was running the top side while Brown was running the bottom and on lap 18 passed Brown for the lead.  On the last lap the 5H car flipped in turn 4 while running 3rd, this brought out the red and a 1 lap dash for the win.  Trent held off Brown by what looked like less than a car length to take his 2nd WoW feature win while Randy finished 3rd.  During the red we found out what was wrong with 14 car but couldn't do anything to fix it, it seems that the rear brake line got cut and Randy had no brakes and was forced to ease the car into the corners.  I'd like to give a call out to Mike Trent in 14C, we drove his butt off, running his race and gaining just a little each lap.  He stayed with it and it payed off for him, plus, I was giving a bunch of crap after the heat race, WAY TO GO MIKE!  The rest of the main went like this:

1. 14c Trent (6)  2. 3 Brown (3)  3. 14 Randy (1)  4. 51J (5)  5. 19 Nichols (2)  6. 86S Shrock 7. 5 Dean (20)  8. 21H Hinck (10)  9. 3P Potter (17)  10. 4T Trent (9)  11. 47 Whitesides (14)  12.78 Schulz (13)  13. 1C Combs (11)  14. 77 Hockett (19)  15. Frisbie (7)  16. 5H Hawks (8)  17. U2 (18)  18. 24 Carpenter (15)  19. 33W Wilson (4)  20. 85 Mikels (12)

CALLAWAY RACEWAYS
WOW OPEN SPRINTS

Another hot and humid Missouri evening tonight at Callaway Raceways.  Twenty-one sprinters were on hand tonight to do battle on the 3/8 mile track, with the season winding down everyone is scrambling for points.  Despite the hot and humid weather the track stayed tacky tonight, but, like last week 1 and 2 was a mess, ruts, gullies, whoop-dees or what ever you what to call it.  Randy was 3 row inside for the first heat, Todd Frisbee was sitting on the pole.  Todd jumped out to an early lead, Randy scramble through the pack to 2nd.  A yellow came out, and Randy fell out.  While lining up for the restart the silver 14 machine died.  Back in the pits we found the culprit to be a broken internal piece of the magneto.  We would manage to fix the problem but our starting position for the feature would be dismal.  Complete heat results are as follows:

HEAT 1:  1. 38 Todd Frisbee (1)  2. 51J Ryan Jamison (6)  3. 86S Shrock (7)  4. 11 (2)  5. 3P Rusty Potter (3)  6. 14 Randy Martin DNF (5)  7. 86B Wayne Barnes DNF (4)

HEAT 2:  1. 1C Randy Combs (3)  2. 85 Tommy Mikels (1)  3. 2 Lowe Cannell (2)  4. 5 Steve Dean (6)  5. 21D Tim Doogs (4)  6. 24 Lanny Carpenter (5)  7. 47 Kevin Whitesides (7)

Not much of a race here, Combs grabbed the lead early and ran away with the heat race win.

HEAT 3:  1. 14C Mike Trent (1)  2. 3 Brian Brown (5)  3. 4T Mike Trent (3)  4. 19 Tracy Nichols (2)  5. 78 John Schulz (6)  6. 7 Marce Kronk (7)  7. 17 George Schell (4)

the 14C car of Trent lead this one flag to flag, Brown moved up the most spots but unable to run Trent down.

Feature time.  Due to the lack luster performance of our heat race, we were slotted to start from the 10th row outside, Frisbee and Combs would be setting the pace.  After a couple of attempts to start the race we finally got under way with Frisbee and Combs battling for the lead.  Randy got a great start and by the end of the first lap he had moved up to 7th.  By lap 3 he was in fourth.  By this time, Brown had assumed the lead and was begining to get out on the rest of the field.  On lap 7 a yellow came out bunching up the field, the top 5 looked like this, Brown, Trent, Jamison, Randy, and Cannell.  By lap 8 Randy had moved into 2nd and was beginning to run Brown down.  On lap 13 Randy passed Brown coming out of 2, only to have a red flag halt the race as the 38 car of Todd Frisbee got upside down (as of late Lady Luck sure hasn't been looking after team 38), this moved us back to 2nd.  Randy tried both the high and low groove to pass Brown, but Brown was able to fend off every challenge that Randy made.  In the end Brown strecth the lead out to 4 or 5 car lengths to go on and take the feature win.  It was an exciting race as Randy passed alot of cars but came up just a little short in the end, having to settle for 2nd.  The rest of the feature looked like this:

1. 3 Brown (6)  2. 14 Randy (20)  3. 78 Schulz (15)  4. 14C Trent (9)  5. 19 Nichols (12)  6. 3P Potter (13)  7. 2 Cannell (8)  8. 1C Combs (2)  9. 51J Jamison (4)  10. 21D Doogs (14)  11. 85 Mikels (5)  12. 47 Whitesides (18)  13. 6R Rose (22)  14. 17 Schell (23) 15. 86S Shrock (7)  16. 4T trent (9)  17. 86B Barnes (19)  18. 5 Dean (11)  19. 38 Frisbee (1)  20. 7 Kronk (17)  21. 11 (10)  22. 24 Carpenter (16)

Team 14 will traveling to Holts Summit to compete in the next to last WOW event of the season. Team 38, hope you all can make the necessary repairs to your racer and join us Saturday nite.

Team 14 tried to ge back on the winning track tonight in California.  Things started out looking real good, Randy drawed the number 1 pill for the heat race, putting him front row pole of the first heat.  Things looked even better as the green flag dropped, Randy sprinted out to a big lead and never looked back, taking the heat race win.  Recap of heat race action:

HEAT 1:  1. 14 Randy Martin (1)  2. 2 Lowe Cannell (3)  3. 11 (4)  4. Z1 Jeff Gibbs (5)  5. 9 Tony Crank (6)  6. 24 Lanny Carpenter (7)  7. 4 Chris Landwehr (2)

HEAT 2:  1. 5 Steve Dean (1)  2. 98c Robbie Rimel (4)  3. 7 Marce Kronk (6)  4. 88 J. Kinder (2)  5. 1c Randy Combs (5)  6. 87 Jimmy Turpin (7)  7. 73 (3)
This race was over as soon as it started with Steve Dean jumping out to a big lead and standing on the loud pedal.  The only race was rookie Marce Kronk moving up from his 6th place starting position into 3rd.

That's about where the good things end... The feature was pretty much over after it got started.  The 5 car of Dean's was out front from the beginning and was fast.  Randy tucked in behind him and made it interesting when they encountered lap traffic.  Dean was not to be denied tonight though, motoring his was way to the A feature win.  Lanny Carpenter passed the most cars tonight, started in the 11th slot and came home 4th.  The rest of the feature looked like this:

1. 5 Dean (2)  2. 14 Randy (1) 3. 2 Cannell (3)  4. 24 Carpenter (11)  5. 1c Combs (10)  6. 88 Kinder (8)  7. 7 Kronk (6)  8. 4 Landwehr (13)  9. 73 (14)  10. 9 Crank (9)  11. 98c Rimel (4)  12. 11 (5)  13. Z1 Gibbs (7)  14. 87 Turpin (12)

Another good night of racing tonight at Capital Speedway, 23 sprints unloaded at the 3/8 mile track to do battle.  Randy looked good in his heated, started front row outside and jumped out to an early lead.  The 14c car of Mike Trent ran him down and the two battle for the heat race win, Randy won the 8 lapper but not without a good fight from Trent.  The rest of the heat races went like this:

HEAT 1:  1. 14 Randy Martin (2)  2. 14c Mike Trent (5)  3. 3p Rusty Potter (3)  4. 33w (6)  5. 85 Tommy Mikels (8)  6. 25 (7)  7. 26 (1)  8. U2 (4)

HEAT 2:  1. 4T Mike Trent (2)  2. 1c Randy Combs (5)  3. 24 Lanny Carpenter (4)  4. 12x Billy Villhauer (8)  5. 21D Tim Doogs (6)  6. 21H Hinck (5)  7. 33x (3)  8. 17 George Shell (2)

The 4T car of Trent jumped out to a big lead but the 1c of Randy Combs tried to run him down, only to come up a couple laps short but made for an interesting race.

HEAT 3:  1. 19 Tracy Nichols (1)  2. 3 Brian Brown (6)  3. 5 Steve Dean (4)  4. Todd Frisbee (3)  5. 2 Lowe Cannell (2)  6. 86B (5)  7. Marce Kronk (7)

This one was over before it got started, the #19 car of Nichols jumped out to a big lead and flat smoked them.

Feature time, Randy started on the front row pole, the track had slicked off and we were looking pretty good.  Randy took the lead from the start and pulled away while the rest of the lead pack fought for position. On lap 11 the yellow came out when the 33 car of Shrock spun in turns 1 and 2.  By now the 3 car of Brown had moved into second, followed by the 14c of Trent, then Combs, and Nichols.  Randy got a good jump on the restart but Brown wasn't giving up, on lap 14 Brown took the lead.  Randy raced him hard and kept Brown close and on lap 16 Randy passed him back coming off of 4, only to have it nullified by a red flag.  The 2 car of Cannell had overturned in 1 and 2 and handed the lead back to Brown.  Brown was able to hold Randy off the rest of the way, going on to the win.  I wasn't able to get the offical finish, it was getting late and I was getting tired.  I will update this went I get the results but here is the top 5:

1. 3 Brown (6)  2. Randy (1)  3. 14C Trent (4)  4. 1c Combs (5)  5. Nichols (3)

NON-POINTS LIMITED SPRINTS

We knew that the car count was gonna be low tonight, it always is  when they are running the limited sprints at Fulton but we had some new things that we wanted to try.  Last weekend at Double X we were having some heating problems so we changed some things this week and wanted to see if they worked.  We also worked on some set-ups, just to see how the car would react.

The track was crap tonight, it was everthing but slick, ruts, gullies, humps, you name it it was there.  It was so back that a Late Model flipped in it's feature, it took off in turn one and barrel rounded twice in the car before it ever touched ground.  Luckily no one was hurt in the incident.

There was only one heat tonight as there was only 6 cars there.  We started in the back but was able to take the lead on lap 2 of this 6 lap race and won easily.  The car was still getting warm so we tried some other things for the feature.

In the feature we started in the second row outside.  Then number 2 car of Lowe Cannell and the Z1 car of Steve Dean was on the front row.  Things were not much different than the heat race, within the first couple of laps Randy had managed to work his way into the lead and never looked back.  Randy won the 10 lap event but the best thing of all was the fact that we figured out some much needed things about the car.

Tomorrow night we will be at Capital Speedway in Holts Summit.  See ya there!

Randy went looking for feature win number 17 tonight and to extend his points lead in this heated championship battle.  Randy was successful on both.  Heat race action saw us starting second row outside, the #2 car of Lowe Cannell was front row pole.  It only took a couple of laps for Randy to work his way into the lead and bring home another heat race win, complete heat results are as follows:.

Heat 1: 1. 5 Steve Dean (2)  2. Z1 Jeff Gibbs (4)  3. 98c Robbie Rimel (1)  4. 9 Tony Crank (3)
5. XX Freddie Hohman (6)  6. 88 J. Kinder (5)

Heat 2: 1.Randy Martin (4)  2. 2 Lowe Cannell (1)  3. 10 Mike Hall (2)  4. 7 Marce Kronk (7)  5. 4 Chris Landwehr (3)  6. 24 Lanny Carpenter (5)  7. #87 DNS

They had an invert of 3 tonight so we started the feature 3rd row outside.  Alot of bumping and grinding at the start of this one, which resulted in us falling all the way back to the 7th position.  Randy was patient and managed to work his way towards the front.  The leader, 98c Robbie Rimel, was out front and began to distance himself from the rest of the pack when on lap 5 the #5 car of Steve Dean flipped in turn 3.  This bunched the field back up and by lap 9 Randy had worked his way into the lead.  Randy went on to win his 17th feature, 10th in the limited car, and enlarged his points lead to 62.  The unofficial top ten looks like this

1. 14 Randy Martin (6)  2. 98c Rimel (1)  3. 24 Carpenter (12)  4. 10 Hall (2)  5. Z1 Gibbs (3)  6. 9 Crank (7)  7. XX Hohman (9)  8. 2 Cannell (4)  9. 5 Dean (5)  10. 7 Kronk (8)

It was a cool evening at the Callaway Raceway tonight, but by the end of the evening it looked like things were going to warm up.  For those of you that didn't show up you missed one of the hardest fought races of the year in the WOW series.

Randy was slated to start in the 3rd row inside of the 2nd heat, but the 77 car scratched which moved us up one row.  Randy broke a throttle spring in this heat race and had to pull the gas pedal up as well as push it down.  This, coupled with the fact that the 19 car of Tracy Nichols and the 14c car of Mike Trent started on the row row, spelled trouble for Randy.  We finished 3rd in the heat.  Here are the rest of the heat race finishes:

Feature time, we started 3rd row outside, with Brown and Nichols in the front row and Doogs and Frisbee in the second row.  Brown jumped out to a quick lead by virtue of the pole starting position and Randy was left to fight his way to the front.  By lap 2 Randy had moved his way into the 2nd position and began reeling in the #3 car.  Randy had actually passed Brown on lp 9, only to have it nullified by a yellow which put Brown back in the lead.  These two battled each other cleanly up until the end.  Randy kept moviing around the track to find a fast line, with 3 laps to go Randy had settled into a line that was working for him.  On the white flag lap Randy and Brown come out of 1 and 2 with Brown taking a slight advantage but with momentum on Randy's side, it was all going to come down to 3 and 4.  In 3 Randy goes high and Brown goes low, coming out of 4 Randy had the run on Brown and looked like he was going to take the win with a 1/4 of a straigh-a-way to go, then Brown made his bonzi move, taking Randy all the way to the wall.  Randy had to lift in order to keep from wrecking them both and thats all Brown needed to  take the win.  The top 5 looked like this:  1. Brown  2. Randy  3. 14c Trent  4. Dean 5. Tracy Nichols.

It was a hot and humid night at Double X Speedway this evening.  We came into this evening with an 18 point advantage in track championship points and we were looking to extend it.  We started second row outside of the first heat, with number the number 2 (Cannell) & 3 (Carpenter) men in points sitting on the front row.  Randy got a good start and quickly worked his way into the lead for the heat race win, the #2 car, Lowe Cannell finished second and the #24 of Lanny Carpenter finished thrid.

Tonights invert just happened to come up 3, so, that means that we would have to start from the third row inside for the A.  It wasn't gonna be an easy run tonight with Cannell, Carpenter, the #98c car of Robbie Rimel, the #88 car of J. Kinder starting ahead of us, and the #5 car of Steve Dean in the row behind us..  Our charge to the front was slowed by repeated cautions, Carpenter jumped out to the early lead followed by Cannell and Rimel.  Bad luck continues to plauge Carpenter as on lap 5 be broke while leading.  We took advantage of the yellow flag and made the pass for the lead on the very next lap and went unchallenged the rest of the way, winning by almost half a lap.  Steve Dean made a strong run to the front, finishing second, only to be DQ'ed for running too large of fuel injection.  That moved up the rest to the field to make the finish look like this, the #47 car of Kevin Whitesides was awarded second, followed by Kinder, Cannell, and Rimel.

This made three feature wins in a row and 16 for the year for Team 14 and helped us extend our lead in the championship battle to 34 points.

Another good night for Team Extreme, we found a setup that the car really liked and she was fast tonight.  We started in the last row inside of the second heat but Randy worked his way through the traffic to come out on top.  His heat win put him on the front row outside of the A.

The A looked to be rough one tonight from the line-up board.  We had the #5 car of Steve Dean sitting on the pole and Lowe Cannell and Lanny Carpenter making up row two.  The green drops and it's a sprint to turn 1, with Randy taking the advantage.  That would be all that we needed this evening as the orange machine was hooked up and Randy was standing on the loud pedal.  The top 5 looked like this, 1. Randy, 2. #24 Lanny Carpenter, 3. #47 Kevin Whitesides, 4. #2 Lowe Cannell, and 5. #98C Robbie Rimel.

This marks Randy's 15 feature win of the seasons and makes us 2 for 2 this weekend.  Randy will be traveling to Knoxville, IA Wednesday to compete in the Knoxville Nationals.  Check back often for results.

Team 14 got back on the winning track tonight as we were able to pull off our 14th A feature win of the year.  Although things didn't start out looking too good for us tonight, we had to start last row inside of th second heat.  We got a terrible start and was mired down in the back of a fast heat.Randy searched for the fast way around the track and moved up to 4th.  Fourth was as good as it was going to get in this heat, the track was terrible and everyone's vision was hampered by the dust, pits and stands included.  Heat race winners were: Heat 1 86s Schrock, Heat 2 4T Trent, and Heat 3 38 Todd Frisbee.

Our poor heat race finish would translate into a 6th row starting spot in the A.  The track was slicker than in the heat race, and if you can believe it the dust was worse.  At the drop of the green Randy got a good jump and by the time they exited turn 2 he had managed to work his way up to the 6th position.  The 4t car of Mike Trent was in the lead, followed by Nichols, Shrock, Mickels, and Whitesides.  By lap 4 randy had managed to move into the 3rd position when the race was halted by a red flag, the 6R car flipped in turn 3.  This would bunch the field back up for the restart, allowing Randy to make up some valuable real estate.  Randy would battle Nichols and Trent for the lead until lap 10 when Randy made the pass and not a moment too soon, on the next lap another car, 86s, flipped after making contact with the #5 car of Steve Dean.  Once again the field would bunch up for the restart, but on the start, Randy jumped out to a 6 or 7 car length lead and never looked back.  Brian Brown was 2nd, followed by Nichols, Whitesided and Trent.
